Watchmakers Bell & Ross Craft Concept Car

Watchmakers pair up with exotic automakers like teenagers at summer camp: Parmigiani Fleurier with Bugatti, Hublot with Ferrari, Breitling with Bentley—the list goes on and on, butBell & Rosswasn't about to sit around and wait for the right supercar to come along. So it made its own.

It's called theAeroGT, and it was revealed—alongside a new line of watches, naturally—just a couple of weeks ago at theBaselworld watch and jewelry showin Switzerland. Its angular form was inspired by both stealth fighter jets and supercars, rendered in silver with all the wings you'd expect of the aircraft with which the French timekeeper typically associates itself.

Were it ever to be built, the Bell & Ross AeroGT would be powered by a 4.2-liter V8, twin-turbocharged to deliver 602 horsepower to the rear wheels through an eight-speed, dual-clutch transmission. Zero-to-60 would come in under 3.0 seconds with a top speed of approximately 200 miles per hour. But it's not hard to imagine it going even faster.Unfortunately the AeroGT is strictly a showpiece and is unlikely to ever be built for public consumption. That's a bit of a shame, but buyers can always put strap on one of the watchmaker's timepieces—like the BR 03 AeroGT watch that debuted alongside the concept car in Basel.
